A quick overview of the ALSPA™ P320 DCS system
ALSPA™ architecture and networks
Alstom® DCS the ALSPA™ P320, consists of a distributed HMI, the CentraLog™, connected to the programmable logic controlers via a unit network, S8000 via copper and/or fiber optics, based on the TCP/IP protocol. The S8000 network is configured either as a bus, redundant or not, or as a ring, redundant or not.
The PLC controllers are connected to the field controllers and I/O racks via the field network, redundant or not:
- The F8000, used in Series 5, is based on the WorldFIP protocol.
- The E8000, used in Series 6, is based on the EPL (Ethernet Power Link) protocol.

ALSPA™ P320 PLCs, field controlers and I/O racks
The mastercell PLCs used in the ALSPA™ system differ depending on the series:
- The ALSPA™ P320 Series 5 uses GE-Fanuc C80-75 PLCs connected to the CE2000 I/O racks and field controlers
- The ALSPA™ P320 Series 6 uses MFC3000 PLCs, a specific Alstom®/GE® configuration of AdLink® cPCI PLCs. They are connected to the BnR® X20 or CE2000 I/O racks and field controllers, depending on the configuration.
In both series, the mastercell PLCs, field controllers, and I/O racks can be either single (simplex) or redundant (duplex).
ALSPA™ P320 HMI suite CentraLog™ and engineering tolos ControCad™
In Series 5 and 6, the CentraLog™ runs on Windows. It is available in two configurations:
- Configured in C30, the supervision (CVS), data exchange (CIS), archiving (Historian or HDSR), and communication with external systems (Gateways) functions are distributed across different operator stations.
- Configured in C10, all Centralog functions are concentrated on a single operator station.
The engineering tool, ControCad™, is used to modify and update the HMI supervision database and diagrams. It is also used to configure and program the PLCs, as well as the I/O and communications with external systems (Modbus, IEC104, etc.).
