ControGen™ system maintenance in operational conditions (MOC)

A quick overview of the ControGen™ excitation system
ControGen™ is a digital excitation systems designed by Alstom with functions like stator voltage control, field (excitation) current control in manual mode, limiters, field flashing, droop and some options like PSS, reactive power control, power factor control, line charging, boosting …
The standard configuration was two redundant channel:
2 Automatic Voltage Regulators channels with integrated Field Current Regulator, with or without connection to a supervision (F8000, Modbus …)
ControGen™ PLC and cards
It mainly consists of B&R® cards, CP1485-1, IF1082, AI4632.1. Some specific electronic cards have been produced by Alstom®:
- PMF175: Adapts the stator voltage, current, and rotor voltage and current
- TTM211: Thyristor Triggering Module receives the Uc signal (firing angle) sent by the AVR and elaborates the firing pulses for the thyristors
- TPI163 : This card interfaces the VT and CT secondaries with PMF175 card
- Other cards like TPC 215, TPT 214 can be used according options and applications.
ControGen™ Local Control Panel and maintenance tools
Local Control Panel (LCP): RedLion Company product name G306A
The LCP allow the operators and technicians to modify parameters, and operate the AVR locally. Tests can also be preformed from the LCP for commissioning.
Controcad™ (CCAD) is the full package which allows to modify and compile the AVR program.
It also allow to record the signals through the “evlog”, these are capture blocks that are triggerd manually or on a signal level.
