A quick overview of the Microrec K4.x excitation system
The MICROREC K4.0, K4.1, K4.2 is the first digital excitation systems designed by Alstom in the end 1990’s with functions like stator voltage control, field (excitation) current control in manual mode, limiters, field flashing, droop and some options like PSS1, reactive power control, power factor control, boosting…
This system could be configured with a single channel or with two redundant channels. On these systems, the manual channel could be a digital channel or an analog channel connected to the bridge(s) firing card. Communication is possible by a serial modbus connection.
Microrec regulator cards
All cards were specifically developed for this product:
- FRTNx: Back plane card (Version K4.0, K4.1, K4.2)
- IRVI20/CPEX1: Stator & excitation U/I adaptation
- ESVI: Analog and digital I/Os
- E64L: Digital input card
- RDSP1: Computing card
- MCRIx: Analog manual channel card
- CPRTx / CPRMx: Thyristor bridge firing cards
- MDMI: Firing pulses fault detection
- MDEX: Exciter rectifying diode fault detection
- AMSxx: Power supply cards
- BCEA/BCEL/BCSA/BCSL… : I/O modules
- ARTN: Display and serial interface.

Microrec Operation & Maintenance
- Signaling: By a digital display : Red Lion CL20 (BCLO) module alarms/historian/analog & digital operating parameter or only main alarms & positions by diodes panels.
- Operation : Some operations can be carried out on the rack (channel switching, signal injection), control is done by means of contacts (buttons on the cabinet or remote contacts)
- Maintenance on software XS103 / XS106 / Ihmdspnt :
- Reloading RDSP1 Cards
- Analog / digital parameters trending / recording
- Modification of parameters and options
- Hardware injection for tests (Steps, AC signal)
- Parameters recovery in case of database is unavailable
- Comparison of databases
